Two Weeks in Italy
I haven’t been blogging lately, because I haven’t been cooking lately. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with a fabulous two week trip to Italy. We had all kinds of wonderful Italian food.
My husband was served this beautiful seafood spaghetti at Ciak in Monterroso. Our favorite meal was in Venice at Taverna San Trovaso. I had an amazing spaghetti carbonara and my husband had veal saltimbocca with a lemon sauce that was delicious!
But hands done our favorite food in Italy was the strawberry panna cotta we had in Vernazza at Il Pirata Cafe. The cafe is run by twin brothers Lucca and Masimo and Lucca insisted we have the strawberry panna cotta and it was amazing. Just the right blend of cream and gelatin with a fresh strawberry sauce that was dark red with a hint of lime. I would love to have the recipe!
Since our trip, I’ve made panna cotta at home several times. Including this Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta with Strawberry Coulis for Valentine’s Day. I’m so glad Lucca introduced me to it.
Congrats on your anniversary!
What a wonderful romantic anniversary! I love the photo of you two in the Gondola!
Jenny – thanks for checking out my pictures. It was such an amazing trip and a great way to celebrate 30 years. I’m making your coconut frosting for a cake tomorrow. I’ll have to post it. Thanks for the recipe!
Hi Barbara,
Happy 30 year Anniversary! I loved browsing through all of your fun pictures from Italy. I was laughing at the leaning tower ones, my husband would have done the same thing! It looks so romantic in Italy. Welcome back!
Hi Prudy – welcome to my website! How lucky that you get to live in Southern Utah. I’m trying to talk my husband into retiring there.
Just wandered over from Picky Palate. Cute blog and I’m so jealous of your two weeks in Italy. I’m a fellow Utahn, down south in Santa Clara.
Wow, Barbara! Sounds like you had a great time! That first picture looks exactly like something I had in Chicago at a Italian resturant!
