In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the 1 ¾ cups of flour, 1 ¼ teaspoons of baking powder, ½ teaspoon of baking soda, and ¼ teaspoon of salt.
In a separate, larger bowl, cream together the ⅔ cup of sugar and ⅓ cup of room temperature butter. Use an electric mixer to beat them together until the mixture is light and fluffy.
Crack the 2 eggs into the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition. Beat the mixture until the eggs are thoroughly incorporated. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing just until the dry ingredients are moistened.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for about 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
