Ingredients

Ingredients for Chocolate Chip Dough:

  • ¾ cup butter softened
  • 1 ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Ingredients for Brownie Batter:

  • 4 oz unsweetened chocolate
  • cup butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

For the Chocolate Chip Dough:

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, packed brown sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Add the egg and mix until well combined.
  • Stir in the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking soda until a dough forms.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips. Set the dough aside.

For the Brownie Batter:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 13x9 inch pan with baking spray.
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, heat the unsweetened chocolate and butter over low heat, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Stir in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until the batter is smooth.

Assembly and Baking:

  • Pour the brownie batter into the greased 13x9 inch pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Scoop large spoonfuls of the chocolate chip dough onto the top of the brownie batter, distributing it evenly.
  • Use a knife or spatula to gently swirl the chocolate chip dough into the brownie batter, creating a marbled effect.
  • Bake the brookies in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
