Ingredients

  • 3 cups orange juice
  • 3 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup lemonade
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 teaspoons ginger
  • 2 teaspoons cloves
  • 2 teaspoons nutmeg

Instructions

  • Combine all of the ingredients together in a large pot and use a wooden spoon to stir them until combined.
  • Cover the wassail with a lid and allow it to sit over low-medium heat for 40 minutes.
  • Remove the cinnamon sticks from the liquid and give it another quick stir.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the spices to your taste — more ginger for extra warmth or scale back the cloves for less spice. Start with the recommended amounts, then taste and adjust.
  • The recipe doubles beautifully and freezes well. Make extra and freeze in portioned containers for up to 3 months.
  • Set up a garnish bar with fresh orange slices, extra cinnamon sticks, and star anise. Not only does this look festive, but it allows guests to customize their drinks and adds an interactive element to serving.
  • If available, choose fresh-pressed, unfiltered apple cider over filtered varieties. The natural pectin and fresh apple flavor create a richer, more complex taste. Local orchards often sell this during fall months - stock up and freeze for year-round use.
