Today’s post is a Chocolate Chocolate and More Recipe Roundup perfect for National Chocolate Day!
Chocolate, Chocolate and more is Joan Hayes’ popular food blog. Joan died suddenly in her sleep last week. Joan was only 49 years old, so it was a shock to her friends and family. She was a strong woman, who was also kind and generous. She freely shared tips on blogging, and daily shared other food bloggers posts on her hugely popular Facebook page to help everyone in the food blogger community get more exposure.
Joan loved to laugh. She was just fun to be around. I was fortunate to be able to spend some time with her on the Click Cruise. We hunted down conk fitters, went shopping for camera lens, chocolate diamonds and of course stopped by the candy store to buy a few chocolates to take back to the ship.
Today on National Chocolate Day the food blogging community is rallying to show our love to Joan and her family. Joan supported her family with Chocolate, Chocolate and more and it’s critical that readers both old and new, continue to visit her site and pin her recipes so the family will have some income during this difficult time.
I’ve picked out some of my favorite Chocolate, Chocolate and more recipes to share with you today. I enjoyed re-reading Joan’s posts while I was picking out the recipes to share. Our blogs are almost like our babies and we leave little bits of ourselves written in the posts. I’m sure Joan’s family will treasure every one of Joan’s posts. I’ve included quotes from Joan’s posts that I thought were especially fun or poignant.
I am a true chocoholic. I eat some sort of chocolate every day.
Making any cake is supposed to be fun. Lick the bowl and the beater. Be sure to taste test your buttercream several times (for quality assurance purposes.) And don’t worry about the little things. I can’t tell you how many lopsided cakes I’ve made and they still tasted fabulous.
I believe things happen for a reason. The alarm doesn’t go off on time because the kids really want me to drive them to school and pick up breakfast on the way. I forget to pick up toilet paper at the store and then it turns out when I go back the next day, there’s a sale. It decides to rain all day so I’ll stay inside and clean the house!
Our day is just not complete without a taste of chocolate. It balances us. Allows us to let little annoyances pass by. And when we can share that love of chocolate (and all things sweet) we make the world a better place.
Peanut Butter and Chocolate is the best combination ever invented.
Brownie Bottom Cheesecake Bars
What do you do when you can’t decide which of your favorite recipes to make? You combine them.
Triple Chocolate Cheesecake Bars
I don’t believe there is ever a thing as too much chocolate.
Death by Chocolate-Devils Food Cake
If it wasn’t for those box mixes, I would have grown up in a cakeless house. No child should be deprived of cake.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love Facebook? It’s my happy place. Personally, it’s where I can keep up with family and friends, share in the joys (and sometimes sorrows.) I can give encouragement with a “like” and a kind comment.
I believe that chocolate makes everything better.
Dark Chocolate Truffle Cookies
Melted chocolate always makes me happy. (and I get to lick the spatula when the kids aren’t around!)
What do you do when you have a plumbing problem and you know the plumber will be arriving in a few hours? You make cookies. The best cookies you can think of. For him

Our day is just not complete without a taste of chocolate. It balances us. Allows us to let little annoyances pass by. And when we can share that love of chocolate (and all things sweet) we make the world a better place.
One final recipe. This one is from her veggies archives. I would total put chocolate zucchini bread in the veggie category too. We were a lot a like Joan. You will be missed.

I am a new reader as well to CC and More as well, and was very saddened by the loss, too young to go away for sure….. she pumped out some awesome recipes, I will be glad to continue sharing and clicking for the family.

What a lovely tribute. I love the quotes. I was a newer reader to Joan’s blog and am saddened that I didn’t discover it sooner.

Chocolate, Chocolate and more was the first food blog I really read and followed. My daughter suggest we start a food blog and I had no idea what that was. After reading Joan’s easy going messages and delicious recipes I thought, “I can do that. Write about what I love to do and share.” Her family was blessed to have such a wonderful person in their lives and I’ll pray for them.
Your tribute is wonderful. Linda

I was so shocked when I heard of Joan’s sudden passing. How wonderful that you got to meet her, Barbara. She sounds like a person who loved life and family, loved to laugh and loved being in her kitchen. I’ve pinned many recipes from her blog and will certainly continue to do so.
What a beautiful tribute you’ve created to a special lady.
Many blessings to her family and friends who are dealing with this heartbreaking loss.

Every single quote is a perfect example of Joan’s wisdom and personality. I can hear her voice saying each of these things. She was an amazing friend.
