This Pink Flamango Smoothie is loaded with spinach, strawberries and frozen mango. Start your day by loading up on fruits and veggies in a Simple Green Smoothie.
I was recently sent a fun new cookbook to review, Simple Green Smoothies: 100+ Tasty Recipes to Lose Weight, Gain Energy, and Feel Great in Your Body. It’s filled with so many delicious, creative smoothie recipes that I’m looking forward to trying. It’s also filled with gorgeous photographs of the smoothies taken by my talented friend, Lindsey Johnson, Cafe Johnsonia.
The recipes start with an easy 10-day kick start game plan. Last week I did the first five days and this Pink Flamango Smoothie was my favorite. It’s made with spinach, almond milk, strawberries and frozen mango.
It’s a sweet treat in the morning and if you can get past the muddy green color, it’s my favorite way to eat spinach in the morning. I prefer my smoothies thick and icy, so I reduced the amount of almond milk in the recipe. The recipe makes two servings; my son is doing the kick-start with me and loved this one too.
I struggle to eat enough fruit and veggies during the day. So for me a smoothie is a perfect way to help me get my five servings a day. I often have a smoothie as a meal replacement and the book has a sections on smoothie boosters that you can add to the basic recipe to boost the protein and nutrition in your smoothies. I also appreciated the shopping guide to make it easy to stock up for the week.
If you’re looking for a fun way to kick-start a healthier diet, Simple Green Smoothies is a great start. My son-in-law saw the cookbook when he was visiting and asked if he could borrow it when I was done. I’m enjoying it so much, it may be a while before I’m ready to let it go.

I like it when green smoothies are sweet. Sometimes they’re too savoury and I’m not a huge fan. But I think this one would be perfect 😀

I make a really similar smoothie, except I add 2 table spoons of PB2 powdered peanut butter…it actually turns out much tastier you should give it a try.
