Pumpkin brownies are a great fall dessert, and these fun, luscious, quick and easy Halloween Pumpkin Brownies start with a boxed brownie mix, so they come together in a flash. Add your favorite Halloween or fall toppings and enjoy!
It’s hard to believe that it’s already time to start thinking about Halloween. The good news is that this just might be the easiest recipe for Halloween brownies you’ll find. So even if things are hectic and busy, you’ll have time to put together a tray of these crowd-pleasing bites.
Update: It’s time for spooky treats again! So we’ve updated the post with a video and tips for making our easy pumpkin brownie recipe. Enjoy!
How to Make Pumpkin Brownies for Halloween
These brownies are a combination of pumpkin chocolate chip bread and fudgy chocolate brownies. They have the moist texture of a pumpkin chocolate chip bread but the rich, chocolate, fudgy flavor brownie lovers crave.
This is also a seven-ingredient recipe that requires one bowl and about 5 minutes of prep time. So it’s a dream of a short-cut recipe for this busy time of year. Plus, no one will have the slightest idea that there’s brownie mix in your pumpkin brownies.
Originally I used the Chocolate Supreme mix from Ghirardelli, which includes a syrup packet, but you can use any brownie mix you like. I often use the Costco Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate Brownie Mix as well, which includes chocolate chips in the mix.
If you’re wondering if you can make this recipe 100% from scratch, you certainly cause your favorite brownie recipe. If you do, just cut the oil in half. The pumpkin adds so much moisture that you won’t need it!
Serving & Storing Pumpkin Brownies
You want to be careful not to overbake the brownies, to keep them moist and fudgy. Check them with a toothpick before your timer beeps. It should have a few crumbs stuck when you remove it from the center of the brownies.
Be sure to read How To Cut Brownies for tips to slice up your pumpkin Halloween brownies perfectly. Tip: I use this long serrated knife for even cuts.
After letting them cool fully, you can store the treats in an airtight container on the counter for up to two days. After that, pop them into the freezer, where they’ll stay fresh for up to three months. Simply let the frozen brownies defrost on the counter for several hours before serving.

Barbara, I am a long time subscriber to your blog, and I finally thought I could try out this simple yet delicious brownie recipe. But I wish if I could bake it from scratch instead of using a brownie mix. Do you have any brownie mix recipe that I can use it here? I would really appreciate your feedback!

Here’s a link to a brownie mix. It makes 2 9×9 pans, so you’ll just need half http://www.crazyforcrust.com/2014/07/best-homemade-brownie-mix/

We have always had a tradition of taking the kids trick-or-treating early in the evening and then coming home, eating homemade treats while watching scary movies and passing out candy the neighborhood kids. We love to see everyone’s costume. Those brownies look wonderful and will definitely find a place on our Halloween goodie table this Halloween.
Melissa @ Bless this Mess
I LOVE the look of these! So festive and easy to boot. I’ll take it. I love all things Halloween… the pumpkin picking, carving, and roasting of the seeds. I like hayrides and caramel apples and hot donuts. I think I love it all!

We don’t celebrate Halloween, but those brownies look awesome, love the idea of using pumpkin puree in them!

Favorite Halloween tradition: We have three tiny cauldrons that we fill with a candy corn and hide during the night. The boy looks for it every morning. The best is when he gets distracted and finds the candy corn midday.
Maureen
Having a daughter born on Halloween has always made it a very special holiday. Growing up we always threw a Halloween party and now she’s married and has children of her own. We still get together, even if just to go trick or treating.
Linda
We bake cookies and decorate them to put in baggies to give to the neighborhood children and friends who stop by on Halloween.

I need a new mixer. Mine has made about all the chocolate dishes it can handle, not to mention cookies, cakes and breads. These Halloween brownies look devilishly good.

Where did you get the Halloween chocolate chips? I’ve looked at Walmart and Harmons and haven’t found them yet. Thanks!
Barbara Schieving
Hi Becca – I picked them up at Smith’s marketplace on 9000 South Redwood Road. Sorry you’re having trouble finding them. Seems like last year I saw them at both Walmart and Harmons.
