    Recipe FAQs

Should I remove the rind before baking?

No, keep the rind intact! It helps the cheese maintain its shape while baking and is completely edible. The rind also adds a pleasant textural contrast to the creamy interior.

Can I prepare this in advance?

While the Brie is best served immediately after baking, you can prep your toppings ahead of time. Have everything ready to go, then pop the Brie in the oven just before serving.

Can I substitute the maple syrup?

Yes, honey makes an excellent substitute for maple syrup in this recipe. Either option provides the perfect sweet balance to the savory cheese.

    Expert Tips

    • Room Temp: Let your Brie come to room temperature before baking for the most even melting.
    • Perfect Dish: Use a ceramic or stoneware dish to help maintain even heat distribution and to keep the melted cheese contained when serving.
    • Criss Cross: Score the top of the Brie in a crosshatch pattern to allow the toppings to flavor the cheese internally.
    • Don’t Over Bake: You want the cheese soft and gooey, not completely liquified.

    How to Store Baked Brie

This dish is best enjoyed fresh from the oven. However, if you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheat gently in a 300°F oven until just warmed through.

What to Serve With Baked Brie

This versatile dish pairs beautifully with crackers, sliced apples, cranberries, grapes, and even sliced cucumbers.

Feel free to mix and match accompaniments based on your preferences.

    Ingredients

    • 8 ounce wheel of brie
    • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
    • 4 sprigs fresh thyme

    Instructions

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
    • Once the oven is preheated, unwrap your cheese and place it in a small Dutch oven or shallow dish.
    • Bake your brie for 25 minutes. Remove the Brie from the oven and top it with the maple syrup and thyme.
    • Serve and enjoy!

    Notes

    • Use a small Dutch oven or shallow dish for baking to prevent the cheese from spreading too much.
    • Wait to bake until just before serving for the best texture and presentation
    • The maple syrup can be swapped out with honey — just a bit of sweetness adds to the savory thyme for a lovely complement to the Brie.
    • Serve with any finger foods you think sound good dipped in a delicious creamy cheese, such as fruits, breads, crackers, and fresh veggies.
