Memorial Day Recipe Ideas

Queso-Bacon-Burgers

Memorial Day kicks off barbecue season so to help you plan your Memorial Day barbecue, I’m sharing some of my favorite barbecue recipes and some I’d like to try this weekend too.

This Memorial Day I’ll be cooking up one of my favorite burgers, Queso Bacon Burgers with Avocado Salsa. My daughter wants to make sliders instead of full size burgers and I plan on giving Cinnamon & Spice’s Easy Homemade Hamburger Buns recipe a try. Reeni’s also got a burger recipe that I need to try, Homemade Healthier Big Macs.

Strawberry Cheesecake with an Oreo Cookie Crust

Strawberry-Cheesecake-with-an-Oreo-Crumb-Crust-3-Barbara-Bakes

Luscious, creamy New York style cheesecake with a crumbly Oreo cookie crust and topped with fresh strawberries drizzled with a strawberry glaze.

Cheesecake is my son-in-law’s favorite dessert. For his birthday my daughter asked me to help her bake a fantastic cheesecake. We brainstormed ideas and decided since gorgeous, sweet California strawberries are now at the market, to make strawberry cheesecake. Recipe Rewind: Perfecting Snickerdoodle Bread

Snickerdoodle-Bread-Slices-2-Barbara-Bakes

If you like a Snickerdoodle cookie, you’re going to love Snickerdoodle bread. It has a crispy cinnamon sugar topping with a sweet, buttery, tangy interior. I’ve also added another layer of cinnamony goodness by loading it with luscious cinnamon chips.

Some of my family’s most loved recipes were recipes I posted when I first started blogging. I didn’t have very many followers. I only had a point and shoot camera, and I didn’t have any experience taking food photos. When I redesigned my site recently, I updated every post with the new Ziplist recipe format which makes it easy to print and save recipes. It was fun to look back at posts I’d written years ago, but the pictures really need updating too.

Buttermilk and a hint of espresso are the secrets to this Black Magic cake. A moist, rich, deep, dark chocolate cake perfect for a special occasion or any day at all.

Claire K Creations is my Secret Recipe Club blog this month. Claire and I have been blogging friends for a while now. She lives in the land down under, Brisbane, Australia and we often comment on each other’s posts. I remember commenting a long while back that I wanted to try the Black Magic Cake she posted, so I was excited when I was assigned Claire’s blog this month to finally give it a try.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Blondies

White-Chocolate-Macadamia-Nut-Blondies-Barbara-Bakes

Moist and fudgy blondies with a rich caramel flavor, loaded with fun Easter white chocolate M&M’s and macadamia nuts. A fun way to change up a highly rated King Arthur Flour recipe for the Easter holiday.

While I was searching for a cinnamon filling recipe to make for my King Arthur Flour giveaway, I stumbled on their Crazy Blonde Brownies recipe. I decided it would be a perfect recipe for the colorful white chocolate Easter M&M’s I’d snatched up at the store. And if you’re using white chocolate in blondies, macadamia nuts seem like the perfect addition too.

A dark, rich, moist chocolate cupcake filled with luscious pastry cream and topped with whipped chocolate ganache. I dressed them up for St. Patrick’s Day, but these decadent cupcakes would be perfect any time of year.
